Teaching Philosophy

I create to learn more about who I am, what keeps me stuck, and what makes me come alive. I have found profound learning through direct experience and reflection (see: constructivism). A learner alongside learners, my intention is that we have a deeper understanding of not only what we are doing—but how and why we are doing it. I strive to co-create work that is made well, unexpected, and values the lived experience of everyone in the room. Like Antonin Artaud, I would like 'not to define thoughts but to cause thinking.'

Kate lives on the traditional and unceded territory of the Coahuiltecan, Lipan-Apache, and Tonkawa people, also known as Central Texas.
